Virus, a software program or file, written with the soul intent to cause
other people (like you and me) trouble and concern. Once a virus is has entered your computer,
it can cause damage to your files, hardware and in some cases can ruin your whole computer.
Viruses take shape in many different forms, for example you can receive one by sharing infected computer
disks with your friends, by receiving and opening an infected e-mail, and even from some internet sites
you visit. Viruses are usually transferred unknowingly and unwilling
but once the infection has occurred the problems begin. Unless you have the appropriate software
to remove these viruses they can replicate themselves, damaging files, programs and hardware
which affects your computer and everyone else's as well.
Viruses don't go away by themselves and have to be dealt with. There is a link at the bottom of this page
so you can see if your machine is infected. It is free tool and very helpful if you haven't yet got
virus software.
Note:- This free tool can only help your
pc after you have been infected, read on to see
ways with dealing with viruses.
Dealing with A Virus.
The only sure way of protecting your self from a virus attack is to have the latest antivirus software
installed and updated on your computer. Most of the later antivirus programs monitor your pc for all
sorts of attacks. Understand even if you have the latest greatest protection there are new viruses being
written everyday. You must go to the antivirus providers home page and download the latest updates a
least once a week to be fully protected.
Tips:-
Never share disks or software with your friends unless
it has been thoroughly checked with a good antivirus program. Never open any e-mails no matter how good the offer sounds
unless you personally know the sender. Even then, you could be at risk as we have stated before, most virus are
sent unknowingly and unwillingly. Don't get upset if you receive a virus from one of your friends just encourage them to get
full antivirus protection.
Virus Hoaxes.
Another problem emerging from all the virus concerns these days are virus hoaxes. These are not
viruses at all but the thought that there may be a new virus causes people to e-mail all their friends
and warn them. Unfortunately many times they are just hoaxes and cause you to waste time.
When you receive a warning from one of your friends before sending it out to every one that you know,
check to make sure it is a real threat and not just a hoax. All major antivirus websites have the latest news
and updates with regards to a new viruses and if the e-mails contents is not on one of the sites it is
probably a hoax and disregard it.
Tips:-
The newer antivirus programs are made to fully protect your computer from the boot
up stage right through to the incoming and outgoing e-mails. It is recommended not to switch any of the settings
off as it leaves loop holes for viruses to attack.
